Presenter Expression of Interest is NOW OPEN! If you (or someone you know) have a presentation you feel would be appropriate to the camps and led outdoor provider sector we welcome your application to present – apply here. \nACA Conferences are of course about building the camp community so social time is an important integral part of our event. SUMMARY:Association for Experiential Education Asia-Pacific Regional Conference
DESCRIPTION:Earlybird Tickets are closing to join the first ever Association for Experiential Education Asia-Pacific Regional Conference. Grab a spot for only $150 before the 15 April. \nExperiential educators from around Asia and beyond are traveling to Singapore\, the Garden City to explore ideas about “Sustainability and Inclusivity in Experiential Education\,”.\nJune 13 to 15. \n \n\n\n\nConference Objectives\nThe Association for Experiential Education (AEE) Asia Pacific Regional (in collaboration with SUSS) brings you the inaugural APAC Regional Conference that aims to: \n\nrecognise the good practices of educators\, practitioners and students in experiential education\nexplore ideas and enactment of sustainability and inclusivity in experiential education\ncelebrate partnerships and expand reach through networking and collaboration\ncelebrate the leadership of APAC council in AEE\n\nTheme of Conference\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe theme of the conference is “Sustainability and Inclusivity in Experiential Education.” We hope that this will be a platform where researchers\, practitioners and students would explore and share sustainability and inclusivity education and practices through experiential learning. \nSome possible themes related to sustainability include avoiding depletion of natural resources\, ecological balance\, sustained functioning of the environment\, reducing one’s impact on the environment\, sharing of good practices\, impact-driven narratives and enhancing the connection with nature. \nThemes around inclusivity may include sharing of findings\, practices\, programmes and/or narratives of the provision of equal access to opportunities and resources to all. \n\n\n\nRegistrations\nFor more info head to https://lnkd.in/gskQt5Y7 \n#equity #inclusion #diversity #outdooreducation #riskmanagement #outdoorrisk #outdoorsafety #wildernessriskmanagement #outdooradventure #experientialeducation #sustainability #environmentaleducation \n\n\n\nKeynote Address: Enabling Experiential Education\, Experiencing Enabling Education \nby Professor Roger Slee (University of Leeds)\nSynopsis: It is difficult to dispute the proposition that the history of education is a history of exclusion for many population cohorts. This continues to be the case for vulnerable population cohorts. Reconstructing education so that it is inclusive is challenging. Sustaining inclusive education is even more difficult. This keynote will consider the possibilities for experiential education as a catalyst for the enduring reconstruction of education across all sectors.\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:OUTDOOR HEALTH NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM in SA
DESCRIPTION:Outdoor Health – A Natural Necessity \nSave the Dates: Wednesday 13 – and Thursday 14 October 2021. Save Friday 15 October to join in the work of an Outdoor Health Working Group. \nLocation: The Symposium will be held in Adelaide’s University and Innovation Precinct located on the banks of the Torrens River\, known as Karrawirra Pari (Red Gum River) on Kaurna Country. \nTheme: Around the world\, humans are either responding to threats posed by covid-19\, or beginning to establish a new ‘post-covid normal’. Meanwhile\, rates of species extinction are reaching alarming levels\, and the effects of climate change are being experienced first-hand by many. Just like sea levels\, rates of human physical\, mental\, and social ill health continue to rise. This culmination of human-nature and planetary change calls for a new normal\, or perhaps a remembering of old ways\, and makes approaches like Outdoor Health a natural necessity. \nInformation will be on the Outdoor Healthcare Website soon\, visit: outdoorhealthcare.org.au \n\n\n\nHosted and sponsored by the Australian Association for Bush Adventure Therapy Inc.\nhttps://aabat.org.au

The star-studded line up of world-experts will help us navigate the path forward and offer some insights which have been gleaned from their recent encounters.\n\nThe Outdoor Council of Australia will be providing an update on the National Outdoors Summit and the key topics being investigated by the various working groups. \nWe encourage all members of the outdoors sector in South Australia to sign up and join in. \n \nTime & Location\n29 Sep\, 10:30 am – 4:00 pm AEST\nZOOM WEBINAR \nBook online here \nAbout the Event\nAs recently advised\, the current COVID-19 situation has forced the postponement of the main event until September 2022\, but we are delighted to bring all our industry and participants to the NOEC “Precursor” event via an online experience. \nThis event will run from 10:30am am to 4:00 pm (AEST) on 29th September 2021\, with breaks following each session so there is time for delegates to fit a little work in between or times to grab a cuppa. \nTopics will include an expert panel on the learnings navigating fires and COVID-19 including Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM\, ACARA Curriculum Review with CEO David de Carvalho\, updates from the OCA Summit\, and Working Groups\, Nature Play Innovations with Pasi Sahlberg\, and the Outdoor Education Awards. \nAll registrations that have booked and paid for NOEC 2022 prior to the 25th of July will receive the link to join this session. \nIf you haven’t booked your NOEC 2022 tickets as yet\, you can still be part of this special event for $30 per person including all fees. \nBook online here. \n \n\nLessons Learnt During Hard Times:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeadership is straightforward when things are going well\, but true leaders emerge when the going gets tough. Whilst 2020-2021 was pretty much a disaster for outdoor educators\, it was also especially hard for students from low SES or marginalised communities. COVID-19 and the Black Summer Bushfires gave time to push the reset button and reflect on what matters most. It became abundantly clear that recent disasters not only break us\, it revealed that wider systemic factors were already broken.\n\n\n\n\nShane Fitzsimmons is now the Head of Resilience NSW and previously the Commissioner of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service between September 2007 and April 2020 (during the Black Summer Fires). As an acclaimed leader\, will share his wisdom and offer concrete ideas to navigate our way forward as a resilient community. \nProfessor Sharon Goldfeld is a paediatrician\, public health physician\, and Co-Group Leader of Policy and Equity at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Director of the Centre for Community Child Health at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. Her research program focuses on investigating\, testing and translating sustainable policy relevant solutions that eliminate inequities for Australia’s children. One positive aspect to emerge for Prof Sharon Goldfeld was ‘COVID taught us we can do slow system change\, fast’. She will speak about what needs to happen in 2021 and beyond in terms of child wellbeing and equity. \nProfessor Pasi Sahlberg\, now lives with his family in Australia and is at the Gonski Institute UNSW. As a schoolteacher\, teacher-educator\, researcher\, and policy advisor in Finland\, Pasi will talk about Growing Up Digital and the impact on Australia’s school children. His career includes senior education specialist at the Finland’s National Board of Education\, World Bank in Washington\, DC\, lead education specialist at the European Training Foundation in Torino (Italy)\, director general of the Ministry of Education and Culture (CIMO) in Finland\, and a visiting professor at Harvard University. Pasi has served as a commissioner in the Swedish School Commission\, advisor to the Minister of Education in Malta\, and Minister of Education in Finland.
