Rock climbing – Grampians National Park

Posted on March 27, 2020

Parks Victoria have released a statement to remind licenced tour operators that rock climbing is strictly prohibited in Special Protected Areas of the Grampians National Park. These restrictions are to protect specific natural or cultural sites of significance.

There are 8 locations that have been listed as Special Protected Areas and are marked on the map. Rock climbing is not permitted within these boundaries.

This has not been implemented to discourage rock climbing within the Grampians, simply to protect certain sites. No trace, low impact rock climbing is permitted that Licenced Tour Operators and individuals adhere to all National Park regulations and all park rules.

Parks Victoria will be seeking feedback from licenced tour operators in the future when the management plan for Grampians National Park is reviewed.
